Chip on your shoulder?

Are there ever any figures of speech (figure of speeches?) that bug you?
My least favorite is: You've got a chip on your shoulder.
Okay? Seriously what does that actually mean?
Like I know what is means, but really what does it mean?
I always picture a bag of potato "chips" on my shoulder.

Poker Chips, maybe?

Chip from Beauty and the Beast?

No, no it's a chocolate chip cookie, right?
No? Well then you gotta mean a chipmunk.

Still not it? Well, then I haven't the foggiest idea of what you're saying, say probably your message isn't getting through to me. Just letting you know.
What are your least favorite figures of speech?
p.s. I hate drawing chipmunks. Can you tell?

This is hilarious! I love the little Chip from B&B. I don't like "by the skin of his teeth," it sounds gross. Teeth don't have skin. Why don't people just say he was close? And I loved visiting with your fam the other day. You guys are still my favorite!
